January 24, 2013

Hi everyone! I know it has been a while since we updated last and so much has happened. In fact today so much has happened. Over this past month we have finalized all of our selections and completed our work order to sent it to the builders for review. They review it and make sure everything is written up and ready to order. We have made a few changes and also added and upgraded some things in the house.
First of all we decided to move the cook top back to the island and install a microwave later on, we have asked them to move the center wall cabinet up 17 inches so we have the space but the cost for the builder to install the microwave was just too much especially since we have installed 2 microwaves before and its quite easy to do. We have also upgraded the center cabinet to a glass front cabinet we think that it will look so nice! Another upgrade in the kitchen was the refrigerator, we were originally getting the standard stainless steal side by side fridge, but knew that the side by side just was not what we wanted, so we upgraded to a french door fridge and we got it though the builder at a great price. This is the fridge we went with

The master bathroom was another area that we made some major changes in first of all we added a 2nd lien closet to give the bathroom a more symmetrical look. We also upgraded all the fixtures and the shower trim to Oil Rubbed Bronze, we also got a great deal on this as well. The biggest change in the master bath was having them move the sinks back into the walls to make the room bigger and to allow for more room to show off the tub.  Just like this:

I can not wait to have that bathroom and I think a chandelier would just look great over that tub.

But today we got a call that really threw us for a loop! The county came back with our site plan and sited it that we cant build the house we want on that lot! Well we can but they won't be able to grade the land to be level enough because of the creek in the back. This would make it seem like our house is sitting on a cliff, which isn't good with 3 small children. So we had to pick another lot, we only really had 2 choices because of our walk out basement. The only problem was that both of these lots are sitting behind other lots. Since Kelvin was working today I loaded up the kids and drove over to the new neighborhood and took a look at the lots, in the snow! But we have picked a new lot and the builders have agreed to place some Leland Cyprus trees along the property lines to help hide the other lots. This is our new lot the little green dots are the trees. it has a 90 foot driveway! If it ever decides to really snow here K is gonna need to buy a snow blower!
You can see below our new lot (20) and our old lot (14) on the plat

We know everything happens for a reason and we know that this is the lot we were destined to have! So now we wait for the county to approve the new site plan and in the mean time we meet with the builder and go over the work order with him. We can not wait for them to break ground!
