April 24, 2013

Today I met with the PM to go over some framing concerns, K wasn't able to make the meeting because they gave us less then 24 hours notice! Yes you read that right they called me yesterday afternoon and said the PM can meet with you but only tomorrow at 11:00!
But the meeting went good, we were able to work out the custom changes for our master bath and go over a few other areas that we were concerned about like the missing closet in the laundry room and the windows that were removed from the garage due to communication errors from the SR.
Our garage was supposed to come with 2 windows on the side of the house, they added a 3rd window on the side facing the front door. We told the SR we didn't want that 3rd window unless it was required by code. Well somewhere along the lines she told the PM we didn't want any windows and they boarded up all the windows. So now they have to cut them out and re install them.
Also while I was at the house today I was able to meet the electricians they were there marking the placements for all the outlets, switches and lights. We have lots of blue boxes all over the house. Also while I was at the house I asked about adding 2 eyeball lights over the fireplace and changing our stair stain to cherry. I am very happy to say that they let me add the lights and change the stain color and we didn't have to pay a change order fee! Our SR called the main office and they said that since the electricians were at the house working they could just add the lights now and since they wouldn't have to come back to do more work that they would waive the fee!

We were getting worried yesterday when we went by the house and nothing had been done since last Thursday other than our brick was delivered and the scaffolding was set up. We only have 46 days left and we have so far to go. But today I was very happy to see electrical going on and the final wrap was put on for the brick that was delivered on Monday. I was also told that the cabinet guy came by and was doing the drawing for the kitchen and we would get that soon.

This evening the kids and I met K at the house after work so I could explain what we talked about at the meeting. When we got there we had received a delivery of PVC pipes so it looks like plumbing is going to happen any day now too. And they told us that the sprinkler guy should be out Friday! They still haven't given us a date for our pre-drywall because they are waiting on the HVAC guys. But I did learn something new in regards to the new energy codes for our county. The HVAC can no longer be in the attic all the units have to be in the basement and they have to limit the number of bends and elbows in the duct work. What this means is the inside unit is going to be placed in a different spot in the basement and is no longer shoved  in the area under our steps. This should help with energy costs so I hope so. The PM told me today that we have one of the biggest houses in the development but we should have the smallest electric bill!!

Here are a few pictures I took!
